Durante los últimos años en la industria pesquera, hemos tenido la oportunidad de trabajar con muchas personas diferentes. Ninguna más especial que el Capitán Nick Kefalides. Nick es ahora un reconocido guía de pesca en Florida, pero mucho antes de convertirse en guía, fue un Marine Raider. Tras servir 11 años en el Cuerpo de Marines de los Estados Unidos, Nick ha tenido sus altibajos. En 6th Sense, nuestro equipo se siente honrado de tener a Nick como amigo y estamos especialmente orgullosos de su servicio a nuestro país.
Nick, con un padre en la Infantería de Marina y un padrastro sirviendo en Vietnam, supo desde muy joven que serviría a su país. Se unió al Cuerpo de Marines a los 18 años y su primer despliegue fue apenas cinco meses después. Imagínate: con 19 años, cinco meses de entrenamiento, aterrizas en Irak y, en menos de una semana, te encuentras en tu primer combate. Algunos nunca tenemos que vivir eso. Nick lo tomó con calma. Se hizo un nombre rápidamente en Oriente Medio y ascendió rápidamente en la escala social. Seleccionado personalmente, no solo una, sino dos veces, para unirse a equipos de operaciones especiales, se estaba convirtiendo en un activo para el Cuerpo de Marines de los Estados Unidos. Durante su servicio y despliegues de combate, Nick estuvo en el lugar y el momento adecuados durante una misión de 48 horas. Durante una patrulla a pie, el equipo de Nick comenzó a recibir fuego de múltiples posiciones enemigas. Al devolver el fuego, Nick y su equipo se refugiaron en el recinto más cercano. Tras enfrentarse al enemigo durante más de una hora, el tiroteo cesó el tiempo suficiente para que todos pudieran recuperar el aliento. Sin saberlo en ese momento, Nick estaba a punto de lograr el mayor logro de su honorable y distinguida carrera. Mientras vigilaba, Nick vio a dos hombres que pasaban corriendo en una motocicleta con AK-47 atados a la espalda. Nick reaccionó con rapidez y eficacia. Aniquiló a ambos objetivos con solo dos disparos, misión cumplida. Nick eliminó, en ese momento, al número tres en Afganistán.
Tras retirarse de la Infantería de Marina en 2014, Nick se sentía perdido, sin saber qué hacer con su vida ni siquiera cómo funcionar como civil. Un año después, recibió una llamada de un amigo invitándolo a una excursión de pesca de altura con otros veteranos jubilados. Fue entonces cuando Nick redescubrió su pasión por la pesca. Poco después, fundó Warrior 2 Bass Guide Service, un servicio de pesca chárter ubicado en el centro de Florida, dedicado a la pesca de lubina negra. Nick organiza excursiones de pesca con guía y luego utiliza sus ganancias para llevar a veteranos a Florida a una excursión de pesca guiada gratuita.
Mientras Nick dirige su negocio y lleva a sus clientes a pescar lubinas gigantes, también participará en los eventos de la Serie Toyota este año. Nick es un pescador experto y la fortaleza mental que adquirió en la Infantería de Marina le será muy útil en su joven carrera profesional. Además, sabe lo que es pescar lubinas de 4.5 kg.
Desde su incorporación a la Infantería de Marina, su selección para convertirse en un Marine Raider de MARSOC, la captura del tercer objetivo en Afganistán, la creación de un negocio fenomenal con un gran propósito, hasta perseguir el sueño de convertirse en un pescador profesional, Nick Kefalides está viviendo su mejor momento. Nos enorgullece llamar a Nick amigo y nos honra apoyarlo en sus sueños. Su historial de servicio habla por sí solo y no tenemos ninguna duda de que Nick seguirá cosechando éxitos en los próximos años. Le deseamos mucha suerte en los próximos torneos.

Nick, thank you for your service and you’re bravery. Your story is amazing. I know how PTSD is a major outcome from being in the military especially being at war, so I am glad that you have found your love for fishing again and doing a great service to the vets.
