Au cours de ces dernières années dans le secteur de la pêche, nous avons eu la chance de collaborer avec de nombreux acteurs. Le capitaine Nick Kefalides est sans conteste le plus exceptionnel. Nick est aujourd'hui un guide de pêche réputé en Floride, mais bien avant de devenir guide, il était Marine Raider. Fort de 11 ans de service dans le Corps des Marines des États-Unis, Nick a connu des hauts et des bas. Notre équipe de 6th Sense est honorée de compter Nick parmi ses amis et particulièrement fière de son engagement envers notre pays.
Nick, dont le père était dans les Marines et le beau-père au Vietnam, savait très jeune qu'il allait servir son pays. Engagé dans le Corps des Marines à 18 ans, son premier déploiement eut lieu cinq mois plus tard. Imaginez : 19 ans, cinq mois d'entraînement, vous débarquez en Irak et, moins d'une semaine plus tard, vous participez à votre premier engagement. Certains d'entre nous n'ont jamais vécu cela. Nick a pris les choses avec sérénité. Se faisant rapidement un nom au Moyen-Orient, Nick a gravi les échelons rapidement. Sélectionné personnellement, non pas une, mais deux fois, pour intégrer des équipes d'opérations spéciales, il devenait un atout pour le Corps des Marines des États-Unis. Au cours de ses missions militaires et de combat, Nick s'est trouvé au bon endroit au bon moment lors d'une mission de 48 heures. Lors d'une patrouille à pied, son équipe a essuyé des tirs provenant de plusieurs positions ennemies. En ripostant, Nick et son équipe se sont réfugiés dans le camp le plus proche. Après avoir engagé l'ennemi pendant plus d'une heure, les échanges de tirs ont cessé suffisamment longtemps pour permettre à chacun de reprendre son souffle. Sans le savoir à l'époque, Nick s'apprêtait à accomplir le plus grand moment de sa brillante et honorable carrière. En position de surveillance, Nick aperçut deux hommes qui passaient à toute vitesse à moto, des AK-47 attachés au dos. Nick réagit rapidement et efficacement. Il élimina les deux cibles en seulement deux balles, mission accomplie. Nick élimina, à l'époque, le numéro 3 en Afghanistan.
Après sa retraite des Marines en 2014, Nick était perdu, ne sachant que faire de sa vie ni même comment fonctionner dans la vie civile. Un an plus tard, il reçut un appel d'un ami l'invitant à une partie de pêche en haute mer avec d'autres vétérans à la retraite. C'est à ce moment-là que Nick redécouvrit sa passion pour la pêche. Peu après, il fonda Warrior 2 Bass Guide Service, une entreprise de pêche charter située dans le centre de la Floride, ciblant l'achigan à grande bouche. Nick organise des sorties guidées et utilise ensuite ses bénéfices pour faire voyager des vétérans en Floride pour une partie de pêche guidée gratuite.
Pendant que Nick gère son entreprise et emmène ses clients pêcher des bars géants, il participera également aux épreuves de la série Toyota cette année. Nick est un pêcheur de niveau expert et la force mentale acquise lors de son passage chez les Marines sera bénéfique pour sa jeune carrière professionnelle. Il sait aussi ce que c'est que de pêcher des bars de 4,5 kg.
De son intégration dans la Marine à sa sélection pour devenir un Marine Raider du MARSOC, en passant par l'élimination de la cible numéro 3 en Afghanistan, la création d'une entreprise phénoménale avec une mission noble et la poursuite de son rêve de devenir pêcheur professionnel, Nick Kefalides vit pleinement sa vie. Nous sommes fiers de compter Nick parmi nos amis et honorés de le soutenir dans ses rêves. Ses états de service parlent d'eux-mêmes et nous sommes convaincus que Nick continuera à réussir dans les années à venir. Nous lui souhaitons bonne chance pour les prochains tournois.

Nick, thank you for your service and you’re bravery. Your story is amazing. I know how PTSD is a major outcome from being in the military especially being at war, so I am glad that you have found your love for fishing again and doing a great service to the vets.
